The defendant, who hails from Obubra area of Cross River State, was however, granted N5 million bail by Magistrate W. B. Balogun, with two sureties in like sum and adjourned the case to April 13 for mention.
The defendant is facing a one-count charge bordering on defilement of minor.
The prosecutor, Inspector Feddy Asu, told the court that the defendant committed the alleged offence on January 30, at 6a.m., at Ologolo community in Eti-Osa Local Government Area of the state.
Asu also alleged that the defendant had access to the girl’s house since he worked as a horticulturist apprentice for the father of the girl.
The court ordered the case file be duplicated and sent to the office of Directorate of Public Prosecution, DPP, for legal advice.
